A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his family member had worries about the activities, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the police about his worries.
She explained Ruben continued to play the "candy game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police again.
She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
